LaVergne, TN - La Vergne Fire and Rescue crews responded to a structure fire on Little John Cove late Monday afternoon, quickly bringing the situation under control and preventing further damage to the home. Little John Cove is near the intersection of Forest Ridge Drive and Stones River Road.
Firefighters arrived within minutes of the initial call and were able to contain the fire to the chimney and attic areas of the structure. Officials said the rapid response and coordinated actions of fire crews played a key role in limiting the extent of the damage.
“Quick response times and dedicated training really pay off in situations like this,” said La Vergne Fire Chief Beasley. “That combination lets everyone know exactly what they need to do, including the newest members of our teams.”
According to La Vergne Fire Marshal and investigator Curtis Brinkley, the fireplace itself does not appear to have been involved. Brinkley said the fire is believed to be accidental, with a possible electrical ignition source identified during the investigation.
Although the fireplace was not connected to this incident, Chief Beasley used the event as a reminder for homeowners to take preventive steps.
“Even though the fireplace was not involved in this incident, it does highlight the need to have chimneys and fireplaces serviced before use,” Beasley said.
Fire crews, with support from Box 55, remained on the scene for an extended period to monitor for hotspots and ensure the fire was fully extinguished. No injuries were reported.
