MURFREESBORO, TN - From the UT-TSU Agricultural Extension Service at the Lane Agri-Park to farm tours and special event venues, Tennessee agritourism continues to grow and diversify. Farmers interested in exploring agritourism or strengthening their current operations are invited to take part in a free, five-session webinar series coordinated by the University of Tennessee Center for Profitable Agriculture.
The series, held January 5, 7, 9, 12, and 14 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. CST via Zoom, will cover agritourism opportunities and challenges, business planning, marketing, customer experience, regulatory considerations, risk management, and available resources. Registration is open now at tiny.utk.edu/ExploringAT.
Producers who attend at least four sessions will earn one educational credit toward the Tennessee Agricultural Enhancement Program (TAEP) Producer Diversification Cost-Share in agritourism, fruits and vegetables, or value-added sectors. Questions about TAEP can be directed to the Producer Diversification Coordinator at the Tennessee Department of Agriculture at producer.diversification@tn.gov.
The Institute of Agriculture continues its land-grant mission of teaching, research, and outreach, providing Real. Life. Solutions. to Tennesseans and beyond. Locally, the UT-TSU Agricultural Extension Service has expanded its offerings with the addition of the Winter-Spring Farmers Market, launched in November. This new market ensures local farmers have a year-round outlet for their products, strengthening both producers and the community.
