Segment 1: Engage Celebrates 10 Years at MTSU - In the first segment of WGNS Action Line, host Scott Walker speaks with Lexy Denton, assistant director of MTSU’s Engage program, as the university marks the program’s 10th anniversary. Denton explains how Engage has helped shape student success by promoting hands-on learning, critical thinking, and meaningful connections between classroom experiences and real-world applications. The conversation highlights how students benefit through improved communication skills, personal and professional development, and reflective learning practices. Denton also discusses Engage’s senior recognition program, digital badges, ePortfolios, scholarships, and its partnership with the Career Development Center, all designed to help students tell their academic story and prepare for life after graduation.

Segment 2: “Joys of the Season” Arts Showcase Goes Multiplatform - The second segment features Dr. Leah Lyons, dean of MTSU’s College of Liberal Arts, and Kristi Shamburger, associate professor and chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance, discussing the university’s 2025 “Joys of the Season” arts showcase (The second segment begins at 10-Min and 48-Seconds). The annual holiday program celebrates the creativity of MTSU students and faculty while thanking the community for its support. Guests share details about performances from the School of Music, Theatre and Dance, and Art and Design, along with new broadcast opportunities this year on True Blue TV, YouTube, NewsChannel 5+, and Nashville PBS. The segment outlines featured performances, behind-the-scenes production locations, and expanded viewing options throughout December, including a Christmas Eve and Christmas Day marathon.
- In a special broadcast this year, Nashville PBS will air the showcase at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, which will also include the airing of the 2024 “Joys of the Season” concert.
