SMYRNA, TN - Smyrna residents faced a long day of water problems Thursday as multiple leaks disrupted service across town. Early in the morning, some households woke to find no water at all. Smyrna’s Public Information Officer Heather Kent said the first notice to residents went out at 6:10 a.m., with an update following at 7:55 a.m. Crews quickly identified a leak on G Street, isolated the issue, and rerouted service. While most customers regained water, a small number remained without service and were directly notified. Others in surrounding areas experienced reduced water pressure until repairs were completed.
The challenges didn’t stop there. A larger issue emerged when a 12-inch water main leak was discovered along Weakley Lane. Smyrna Utilities crews isolated the break, restoring service to customers in the area, though reduced pressure continued until repairs were finished later in the day. Three commercial sites remained without water until the main repair was complete: the National Guard facilities on Weakley Lane and 8th Avenue, the County Clerk Office on Weakley Lane, and the County Convenience Center on G Street.
Another water main break added to the strain, impacting a wide service area that included Dellwood Drive, Buttonwood Drive, Tapoco Court, Wesley Drive, Ford Court, Laural Hill Drive, Neptune Court, and Robertson Drive. Smyrna Utilities crews worked steadily throughout the day, addressing leaks and restoring service across these neighborhoods.
By evening, officials confirmed that all water problems had been resolved. Smyrna Utilities expressed appreciation to residents and businesses for their patience while crews worked to restore service. The day highlighted the challenges of maintaining critical infrastructure but also underscored the dedication of local utility teams. Their swift response ensured that Smyrna’s water service was back on track by nightfall, bringing relief to residents after a day of disruption.
