NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A man recently returned to Nashville to face sexual battery and indecent exposure charges is also tied to a similar case in Murfreesboro, prompting Youth Services detectives to ask whether there may be additional victims in Middle Tennessee.
Metro Nashville Police Department said 27-year-old Malcom L. Grant was arrested this month in Paducah, Kentucky, on a marijuana-related charge. During the arrest, authorities learned Grant was wanted in Nashville and contacted MNPD, leading to his return to face outstanding warrants.
The Nashville charges stem from a complaint filed earlier this year by a 17-year-old girl who was working at a Gallatin Pike chicken restaurant, where Grant served as assistant manager. According to arrest warrants and a release by Metro PD, the teen reported that on February 27, while she was working in the office, Grant stood behind her and intentionally touched her buttocks. Investigators contacted the restaurant’s regional manager, who reviewed surveillance video that allegedly showed Grant exposing himself in the office without the girl’s knowledge while standing behind her. Grant was terminated from his position, and arrest warrants were issued on March 1, the same day police were notified of the allegations.
Detectives say Grant is also wanted in Murfreesboro for failing to appear in court in connection with a 2023 case involving allegations of inappropriate conduct at a local restaurant. In that case, Grant is accused of repeatedly touching the buttocks of a 16-year-old male coworker while employed at a Murfreesboro pizza restaurant, according to a release by Metro Police. Authorities in Nashville also reported the failure-to-appear warrant remains active through the Murfreesboro Police Department.
Court filings in Rutherford County relate to an alleged incident dated October 1, 2023. That case, which the courts list as being in an “open” status, includes eight counts of Sexual Battery by an Authority Figure filed against Grant.
Because of the allegations in both Nashville and Murfreesboro, Youth Services detectives appear concerned there may be additional victims. Anyone in the Nashville area who may have information or concerns about inappropriate conduct involving Grant—whether in a restaurant setting or elsewhere—is asked to contact Youth Services detectives at 615-862-7417.
There is also an open case against a "Malcolm L Grant" in Wilson County. There, Grant was charged with simple possession and unlawful drug paraphernalia. A defendant's hearing result was marked as "Failure to Appear for Court," in that Wilson County case.
