Dec 24, 2025 at 06:53 pm by Bryan Barrett

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WGNS) - Rutherford Weather brought holiday cheer to local families this Christmas Eve by launching its first-ever Santa tracking broadcast.

In a festive twist on traditional weather coverage, Rutherford Weather used its radar technology — normally dedicated to tracking storms — to follow Santa Claus as he made his journey around the world. The special livestream allowed viewers to check in on Santa’s location and watch his progress throughout the evening.

The debut Santa Tracker combined fun and familiarity, giving children and families a new way to enjoy Christmas Eve while tuning in to a trusted local source. The event marked the beginning of what Rutherford Weather hopes will become a new holiday tradition for the community.

Our special coverage is made possible by the support of Woodfin Funeral ChapelsFarm Bureau Insurance Agent Adam TiptonKenneth Barrett for Sheriff, and Middle Tennessee Electric (MTE).

For its first year, the Santa Tracker delivered smiles, excitement, and a little extra Christmas magic across Rutherford County. 🎄🎅
