Former Mr. Boro Pride Killed in New Year’s Day Hit‑and‑Run in Nashville

NASHVILLE, TN (WGNS News) - A person with ties to Murfreesboro was killed early New Year’s Day by a red four-door coupe that slammed into a rideshare vehicle parked beside the sidewalk in front of Pecker’s Bar and Grill at 237 Hermitage Avenue. Metro Police report that 23-year-old Afriye Seegars, known as Smooth Sexton, died at the accident scene. In addition, a 24-year-old is in critical condition in a Nashville hospital.

Police said that the victims had called a rideshare and were about to get into the vehicle when they were struck by a speeding red or maroon car, possibly a Ford Mustang. (see MPD attached photo)  The deadly hit and run occurred around 1:30AM New Year’s morning (1/1/2026) on Hermitage Avenue in the vicinity of the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum.

Seegars’ Murfreesboro connection is that he was a former Mr. Boro Pride and is described as a well-known figure in Middle Tennessee’s drag queen community.
