MURFREESBORO, TN (WGNS News) - The Better Business Bureau serving Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky is kicking off the New Year by opening applications for its Torch Awards for Ethics and Spark Awards. Both programs honor businesses and leaders who make integrity more than a talking point. Applications are open now and must be submitted by February 12, 2026.
The Torch Awards for Ethics have long been considered a gold standard in the region. Established in 1998, the program recognizes for‑profit and eligible non‑profit organizations that demonstrate ethical leadership, strong internal culture, and meaningful community impact. Recipients are known for building trust not just with customers, but with employees and the broader community.
For younger businesses and rising leaders, the Spark Awards offer a chance to be recognized early in their journey. These awards highlight entrepreneurs, startup founders, and new business owners—especially those 35 and under or operating a business less than three years old—who are already showing the character and community engagement that set the foundation for long-term success.
Robyn Householder, President and CEO of BBB Serving Middle Tennessee & Southern Kentucky, said the awards celebrate organizations that “not only talk about integrity but put it into action in every aspect of their operations.”
Eligible businesses must be located within the BBB service area and meet specific criteria, including BBB rating standards. Winners and finalists will be recognized at upcoming BBB events and receive promotional opportunities throughout the year.
Businesses ready to share their story of ethical leadership can learn more or apply at BBB.org.
