MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Barrett Firearms Manufacturing Inc., a company founded in Rutherford County, has announced a significant expansion of its 2026 product lineup, unveiling new rifle platforms, an addition to its Precision Ammunition line, and expanded finish options. Company officials say the updates further reinforce Barrett’s reputation for precision engineering, innovation, and American manufacturing excellence.

In 2022, Barrett Firearms Manufacturing Inc. was recognized as one of the largest gun manufacturers in the world. The following year, the Rutherford County–based company was acquired by the NIOA Group, an Australian, family-owned global munitions and defense firm. While NIOA acquired 100 percent ownership of Barrett, founder Ronnie Barrett and the existing leadership team agreed to remain actively involved in the company, supporting long-term growth and expansion plans that continue to take shape today.

Among the headline introductions is the MRAD® Covert, a compact precision rifle designed to meet the demands of discreet operational environments without sacrificing accuracy or reliability. Built on the proven, magazine-fed, bolt-action MRAD platform, the MRAD Covert features a folding stock and a design that allows the rifle to be easily disassembled to fit inside a bag or backpack. Factory configurations include .308 Winchester or 6.5 Creedmoor with a 17-inch barrel, delivering 5-shot sub-0.85 MOA accuracy while remaining compatible with all MRAD barrel conversion kits. Each rifle ships with an Eberlestock® Adapt backpack, with additional transport solutions available to meet end-user needs.

Barrett also announced the expansion of its Precision Ammunition line with the introduction of .50 BMG Precision Ammunition, complementing its existing .416 Barrett offering. The new .50 BMG cartridge features a 660-grain MTAC projectile producing approximately 2,800 feet per second from a 32-inch barrel. Manufactured to strict production tolerances, the ammunition is designed to deliver consistent accuracy, reduced drag, minimal wind drift, and extended supersonic range, with each load performance-validated across a wide range of environmental conditions.

Another notable development is the return of the REC10® rifle, which had previously been placed on production hold while Barrett prioritized its MRAD MK 22™ contract. The REC10, a direct-impingement, semi-automatic rifle, will again be available by popular demand. Offered in .308 Winchester or 6.5 Creedmoor with 16-inch or 20-inch barrel options, the REC10 delivers 5-shot sub-MOA accuracy and features fully ambidextrous controls, an optimized gas system, and premium components. The rifle is scheduled to be available for purchase beginning mid-2026.

For 2026, Barrett is also expanding its Cerakote® finish offerings across several flagship rifle platforms. Customers can now order M107A1®, Model 82A1®, and MRAD® rifles in five new solid finishes—White, Blaze (Red), Liberty (Blue), Burnt Bronze, and Sniper Green—along with optional Woodland Camo or Grey Urban Camo patterns. Standard finishes will remain available, and additional products are being evaluated for future color expansion.

“These product introductions reflect Barrett’s continued focus on delivering purpose-built solutions for every segment we serve,” said Ryan Krantz, Vice President of Business Development & Sales at Barrett. “From the compact mobility of the MRAD Covert, to the return of the REC10, to the expansion of our Precision Ammunition and finish offerings, each release is driven by direct feedback from military, law enforcement, and commercial customers who demand uncompromising performance and adaptability.”
