MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - The massive Buc-ee’s travel center under construction near the Interstate 24 and Joe B. Jackson Parkway interchange has reached a milestone in its development: hiring. While crews will remain in the field for months to come, the company has started recruiting key management and specialist staff as it moves closer to opening day.
Buc-ee’s has listed seven leadership and operational roles tied to its forthcoming Murfreesboro site. These positions reflect the full scope of responsibilities needed to run one of the chain’s large-scale travel centers, which blend retail, foodservice, facility oversight, and customer service functions:
-
Human Resources Field Representative — to manage recruiting and workforce systems.
-
Assistant Gift/Merchandise Manager — for retail operations leadership.
-
Night Manager — to supervise overnight operations and staffing.
-
Assistant Deli/Food Service Manager — to help direct foodservice offerings.
-
Grocery Manager — to handle inventory and stock in the grocery area.
-
Janitorial/Cleaning & Maintenance Manager — ensuring facility standards remain high.
-
Assistant General Manager — a senior role for overall store performance.
These listings represent just the beginning of staffing activity for the location. Buc-ee’s traditionally hires hundreds of team members as construction nears completion and training ramps up.
The company’s signature travel center planned for Murfreesboro is substantial in scale. With an expected footprint of roughly 74,000–77,000 square feet, more than 100 fuel pumps, and electric vehicle charging stations, the site is being built to serve both interstate travelers and local residents. Ancillary features such as foodservice counters, extensive merchandise offerings, and walking areas are part of the design.
Construction has faced incremental delays due to infrastructure work and material coordination, but progress continues. Current projections target a late-2026 opening, with many estimates pointing to December 2026 as the likely timeframe for welcoming customers.
As the project evolves, the early posting of management roles signals a shift from groundwork to operational readiness. Buc-ee’s leadership typically engages in phased hiring that scales up as the opening date draws nearer, meaning additional job opportunities — ranging from frontline service to logistics support — are likely to be announced throughout 2026.
The Murfreesboro travel center is expected to be a major employment hub once open, bringing hundreds of living-wage jobs to Rutherford County, while also adding a new high-capacity pit stop on a critical stretch of central Tennessee’s highway network.
