MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Murfreesboro Transit will launch a new west-side pilot bus route beginning Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, serving the Cason Lane and St. Andrews Drive corridor as the city continues to expand public transportation options in one of Murfreesboro’s fastest-growing areas.
The pilot route is designed to increase access to transit services west of Interstate 24, where development and traffic volumes have increased in recent years. A Social Security route to the Social Security Administration Office at 2836 St. Patrick Court already operates in the area, and the new pilot route will connect with that service.
The Cason Lane and St. Andrews Drive route will operate Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring 14 designated stops along the corridor. Buses will run on a continuous loop, with each loop taking approximately 20 to 25 minutes, depending on traffic conditions and the number of stops completed.
Passengers will be able to transfer between the pilot route and the existing Social Security route to connect with other transit services. Route maps and stop locations are available online at www.murfreesborotn.gov/Transit.
During the pilot period, the new route will be free to ride. Before the pilot concludes, notices will be posted onboard buses to inform riders of the date fares would take effect if the route is continued. The current maximum fare for Murfreesboro Transit routes is $1, with free transfers available.
The pilot route follows the recent opening of the new Murfreesboro Transit Center on New Salem Highway. City and state transportation leaders gathered Aug. 28, 2025, at 324 New Salem Hwy. to officially cut the ribbon for the facility, which opened to the public on Sept. 8, 2025. The center was developed to better support transit operations amid continued population growth and traffic congestion and to strengthen partnerships with WeGo Public Transit.
The Transit Center includes a 2,375-square-foot passenger waiting pavilion, a 3,200-square-foot bus maintenance facility, parking, and an administration building housing dispatch, operations, and staff offices. Murfreesboro Transit currently operates a fleet of 12 buses with 18 drivers, and the New Salem Highway location provides a more central hub for boarding and transferring passengers.
Riders can also track buses in real time using the Murfreesboro Transit mobile app, available for download on Apple and Android devices by searching “Murfreesboro Transit,” which features the City of Murfreesboro’s rotunda logo.
