Saint Rose of Lima Breaks Ground on New Marian Center in Murfreesboro

MURFREESBORO, TN — Church leaders, parishioners, and community members gathered Wednesday for the official groundbreaking of the new Marian Center at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Murfreesboro.

The ceremony took place behind the church campus on North Tennessee Boulevard, marking a significant milestone in a project years in the making.

The decision to proceed with construction of the new Marian Center was reached in 2024 after initial approval from the Parish Council. A capital campaign soon followed, generating the necessary support to replace the previous Marian Center building and expand ministry space for the growing parish community.

Church officials said the new structure is designed to meet both present and future needs. The Marian Center will feature a large meeting space capable of accommodating groups of 50 or more people. It will also serve as the home for several key outreach efforts, including the Backpack Ministry, Bridge Ministry, and youth ministries.

Demolition of the former Marian Center was completed this past October, clearing the way for construction to begin following Wednesday’s groundbreaking ceremony. With the green light now given, building efforts are expected to move forward in the coming months.

Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church is one of the largest Catholic parishes in the area, with more than 3,300 registered families. In addition to its worship services and ministries, the parish operates a well-regarded preschool and school, serving students and supporting the spiritual formation of individuals and families across multiple generations.

One church member described the new Marian Center as an investment in the parish’s long-term mission — strengthening fellowship, expanding outreach, and ensuring space for continued growth in Murfreesboro.
