UPDATE - PODCAST: In the FIRST HALF of this episode of the WGNS Action Line, host Scott Walker sits down with Taylor Love and Cassandra Taylor of the Smyrna Public Library, to discuss the exciting slate of events and unique programs coming to the Rutherford County Library System (RCLS).

The conversation highlights the Winter Reading Program, where patrons can earn branded RCLS beanies by reviewing six books (or more). The guests also share details on a variety of niche community events, including:

  • Teen Taste Test: A new program challenging teenagers to try adventurous foods—including international snacks and the infamous "cricket challenge."

  • The Thrifty Community Closet: A collaboration with local non-profit Say Cheese to provide free thrifted clothing to adults and teens in need on February 28th. It will be from 9 AM to Noon.

  • Adult Game Night: A popular after-hours event (Friday Feb. 27 – Be there at 5:30 PM) featuring everything from classic chess to the social deduction game Chameleon. The fun game night takes place once per month in Smyrna.

  • Gilmore Girls Celebration: A nostalgic event celebrating the show’s legacy with free coffee provided by Scooters of Smyrna.

  • US 250th Anniversary: An early look at the "Road to 250" reading challenge which rewards participants with a commemorative coin.

Whether you're looking for a free community closet, a competitive game night, or a way to earn a new winter beanie, this episode covers the diverse ways the Smyrna Library is serving as a central hub for Rutherford County residents.
