MIDDLE TENNESSEE (WGNS) - Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerri Green is back on the road this weekend, continuing a statewide tour that has already taken her to more than 50 communities from Memphis to Kingsport. After a Thursday night meet‑and‑greet in Covington, she’s spending the weekend in Middle Tennessee, with events in Gordonsville, Murfreesboro, and Mt. Juliet.
Green’s Saturday begins in Gordonsville at BB’s Bistro, followed by an evening stop in downtown Murfreesboro at the Walnut House Event Venue. On Sunday, she heads to Mt. Juliet for a lunchtime gathering before returning to Murfreesboro for a meet‑and‑greet with MTSU College Democrats.
Her campaign says the turnout at recent events has been strong. Green told supporters that Tennesseans are “tired of the chaos” and ready for leadership focused on lowering costs, fully funding public schools, and expanding access to healthcare. She also noted that her campaign’s visibility has drawn attention from her Republican opponent, saying the increased scrutiny signals that her message is resonating with voters.
Green currently serves on the Memphis City Council and is a mother of three. A lifelong Tennessean, she grew up in Memphis, attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, and began her professional career in Nashville before returning to Memphis. On the Council, she has championed living wages for public employees, secured funding for senior‑center meal programs, and supported Shelby County’s first free gun‑lock‑by‑mail initiative. Most recently, she pushed for free bus rides after federal cuts affected low‑income residents.
Her 2019 election flipped her district blue for the first time, contributing to the Council’s first‑ever female majority. Her campaign says that experience—along with her work on economic stability, public safety, and community services—forms the backbone of her pitch to voters as she seeks the governor’s office
