Rockvale, TN – John Gaessler, a longtime Rockvale resident and community leader with decades of experience in insurance, financial management, and business, today announced his candidacy for Rutherford County Commission, District 8, in the Republican Primary on May 5, 2026.
For far too long, out-of-touch career politicians have believed they know more than the very people they are supposed to serve. Their unsuccessful policies—rooted in a big-government, tax-and-spend mentality—combined with a genuine lack of planning, have left Rutherford County decades behind the curve. Rapid growth has outpaced infrastructure, taxes have climbed unchecked, and families are feeling the squeeze while government inefficiency only compounds the problem.
"I am running for County Commission because Rutherford County deserves a government that works harder and smarter for its people," Gaessler said. "Our county is growing fast, and that means we need responsible leadership—lower taxes, strong property rights, transparency, managed growth, and real efficiency in how taxpayer dollars are spent."
A conservative at heart, Gaessler puts family and faith first. He promises to bring his proven track record of hard work and fiscal discipline to the Commission. "I've spent my career solving real problems for real people—with integrity and results. I'll do the same here: cut waste, streamline government, listen to voters and respond while, and make sure every decision puts hardworking families ahead of bureaucracy."
Gaessler lives in Rockvale with his family and welcomes voters from District 8 to connect. He is seeking the May 5th Republican nomination.
