SMYRNA, TN - The Smyrna Fire Department is celebrating a major milestone after Smyrna Fire Station No. 4 received the prestigious Build Tennessee Award of Excellence from the Associated General Contractors of Tennessee. The recognition highlights the facility’s design, craftsmanship, and its role in supporting both firefighter readiness and the continued growth of the Town of Smyrna.

Fire officials shared the news in an online post, stating, “We’re proud to serve our community from a station designed for readiness, resilience, and the future of Smyrna.” The award reflects strong partnerships between municipal leaders, contractors, and designers, as well as a commitment to long-term public safety infrastructure.

The Build Tennessee Award of Excellence is the highest honor presented in the AGC’s annual statewide construction competition. Smyrna Fire Station No. 4 was recognized for a design that enhances operational efficiency, improves emergency response readiness, and supports the safety needs of one of Tennessee’s fastest-growing communities.

The AGC Build Tennessee Awards program is considered the premier commercial construction competition in the state. Each year, projects from across Tennessee are evaluated on safety performance, innovation, project management, client service, and sensitivity to the surrounding environment and community. Entries are divided by contract value and building type, with top-scoring projects earning the Award of Excellence. Projects that score within five points of the top entry receive Awards of Merit.

Judging is conducted by AGC members from other states to ensure unbiased evaluations. The competition routinely features projects representing billions of dollars in completed construction throughout Tennessee, underscoring the significance of Smyrna Fire Station No. 4’s selection.

For the Smyrna Fire Department, the recognition not only celebrates architectural and construction excellence but also reinforces the department’s mission to protect a rapidly expanding population with facilities built for modern response demands and future growth.
