CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WGNS) - Providence Christian Academy (PCA) etched its name into the record books on Saturday, as both the boys' and girls' basketball programs claimed TSSAA Division II Class A state titles on the same day. The dual championships at F&M Bank Arena mark a historic high point for the Murfreesboro school's athletic department.

Lady Lions Secure Second State Gold

The Lady Lions opened the day’s winning streak by defeating University School of Jackson (USJ) with a 60-49 victory. PCA utilized an efficient offense to pull away in the second half, securing their first state title since 2019 and the second in the program's history.

The Lady Lions were led by a standout performance from Daisy Gale, who netted a game-high 20 points and earned Tournament MVP honors. Gale was a force at the charity stripe, finishing a perfect 8-for-8. Supporting the effort, Abby McFarland added 14 points, including four critical three-pointers that helped stretch the USJ defense. As a team, PCA shot an impressive 46% from the field and out-rebounded the Lady Bruins 32-24.

Lions Repeat as State Champions

The PCA boys completed the "double-gold" achievement later that evening, taking down Battle Ground Academy (BGA) 60-48. The win marks back-to-back state championships for the Lions, who controlled the pace of the game from the opening tip to the final buzzer.

Chris Washington Jr. led the charge for the Lions with 18 points and 7 rebounds, punctuating the win with a series of second-half dunks that energized the Clarksville crowd. Guard Mason Applegate contributed 15 points and distributed the ball effectively with 5 assists. Defensively, PCA stifled BGA, holding the Wildcats to just 34% shooting and forcing 14 turnovers throughout the contest.

Winning two state titles in a single day is a rare achievement in Tennessee high school sports. The sweep capped off a successful season for both teams, who were supported by a large crowd of local fans who traveled to Clarksville to witness the historic outcome for the Lions' basketball programs.
