April 18 - 10AM to 2PM on Downtown Square.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Preparations are underway for Rutherford County’s 25th Annual Earth Day Celebration, which will bring environmental education, family activities, and community involvement to the historic downtown square in Murfreesboro this spring.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on the historic public square in downtown Murfreesboro. Organizers are currently encouraging local organizations, businesses, nonprofits, and community groups to sign up for booth space and participate in the milestone celebration.

This year’s theme, “Go Green, Breathe Clean,” focuses on protecting and improving air quality while encouraging residents to adopt environmentally friendly habits that reduce pollution and support a healthier community.

Organizers say the annual event is designed to both educate and inspire residents of all ages. Booths and activities will highlight practical ways families can reduce their environmental impact through everyday choices.

Participants are encouraged to incorporate the theme into their exhibits by offering hands-on, family-friendly demonstrations and activities. These could include simple renewable energy demonstrations, tips for reducing pollution at home, or interactive displays that show how individual actions can affect local air quality.

Organizers also hope booths will showcase local sustainability efforts, such as eco-friendly businesses, clean-energy initiatives, tree-planting programs, and volunteer opportunities that allow families to take part in environmental stewardship together.

The celebration has grown into one of Rutherford County’s longest-running environmental awareness events. Over the years, it has brought together community groups, government agencies, and environmental advocates to share ideas and encourage sustainable practices.

Those interested in hosting a booth must submit an application by Friday, April 3. Event organizers encourage applicants to submit their materials as soon as possible so that participating organizations can be announced in advance of the celebration.

Additional information about the event and participation guidelines can be found online at RCEarthDay.com. Updates will also be shared on social media through the event’s official pages on Facebook and Instagram.

The 25th annual Earth Day celebration is expected to draw families from across Rutherford County for an afternoon focused on environmental awareness, community engagement, and practical steps residents can take to protect the environment for future generations.
