The announcement, made by school administration this week, brings a coach with deep Middle Tennessee roots and a resume highlighted by recent state-level success to the Murfreesboro campus.
Brown, who hails from Nashville, transitioned into coaching following a collegiate playing career. He served as an assistant coach at Cumberland University from 2018 to 2021 before moving to the high school ranks. During his time as an assistant at Hillsboro High School from 2023 to 2026, Brown was instrumental in guiding the team to the 2025 TSSAA State Championship—the first title in that program's history.
Beyond his win-loss record, Brown has earned a reputation for elite player development. His efforts have resulted in the mentorship of four All-Americans and two professional players. Riverdale Principal Tamera Blair expressed high expectations for the new hire, noting his ability to build meaningful relationships and his commitment to the "student" aspect of the student-athlete experience. Brown’s philosophy aims to bridge the gap between academic excellence and on-court performance, prioritizing the long-term character of his players.
