Crash on I-24 in Coffee County Causes Lane Closures Saturday Afternoon

COFFEE COUNTY, Tenn. — What initially appeared to be a multi-motorcycle crash along Interstate 24 in Coffee County on Saturday afternoon was later reported to be a single-vehicle accident, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

The crash occurred on Interstate 24 East near mile marker 110, just before the Highway 53/Woodbury Highway exit near Manchester. Early reports from motorists traveling in the opposite direction suggested that multiple motorcycles may have been involved in the incident. However, TDOT officials clarified that the crash involved only one vehicle.

According to TDOT, the accident was first reported at approximately 3:25 p.m. Central Time on March 21, 2026. By 4:10 p.m., traffic conditions remained significantly impacted, with both eastbound lanes blocked and the right shoulder also closed to traffic.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to the scene and is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities have not yet released details regarding injuries or what may have caused the incident.

Motorists traveling through the area experienced delays and were urged to use caution while approaching the crash site near Manchester.
