MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) — Siegel High School is entering a new era on the hardwood as administrators officially introduced Lynus Martin as the new Head Boys Basketball Coach.
KEY POINTS
• Career Milestone: Coach Lynus Martin joins Siegel High School with more than 20 years of coaching experience and a proven track record of over 300 career victories.
• Local Roots: As a former collegiate athlete at Tennessee Tech, Martin brings a deep understanding of the Middle Tennessee athletic landscape to the Stars program.
• Player Development: Beyond the high school court, Martin is the founder of the Cereal Killers Travel Basketball Program, where he has mentored athletes from elementary through high school.
• Leadership Vision: Principal Stephen Wayne emphasized that Martin was selected for his commitment to developing young men through the foundational concepts of academics, athletics, and community service.
Martin, a familiar face in the regional basketball scene, brings two decades of educational and coaching expertise to the program.
Throughout his extensive career, Martin has established himself as a high-caliber strategist and mentor. His resume includes multiple district and regional accomplishments, two Coach of the Year honors, and leading teams to the Sub-State tournament.
Siegel Principal Stephen Wayne noted that while Martin's 300-plus wins are impressive, it was his alignment with the school’s "student-centered foundation" that made him the ideal candidate.
Martin’s coaching philosophy extends beyond the boundaries of the court. As the founder of the Cereal Killers Travel Basketball Program, he has spent years preparing local athletes for the next level of competition by emphasizing accountability and skill development. In a statement, Martin expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, noting that Siegel has long felt like home and that he is humbled by the trust placed in him by the school's leadership.
"At its core, this role is more than basketball; it’s about developing young men the right way," Wayne said. The school expects Martin to bring a "contagious energy" to the sidelines, fostering an environment where trust and team unity serve as the catalysts for on-court success.
