Four‑County Solid Waste Board Sets Public Hearing for 6 pm March 25

McMINNVILLE, TN (WGNS) - The Central Tennessee Regional Solid Waste Planning Board will meet Wednesday night in McMinnville, bringing together representatives from Cannon, Coffee, Rutherford and Warren counties to review ongoing solid‑waste issues across the region. Board Chair Donna Barrett submitted the agenda to WGNS ahead of the meeting, which begins at 6 p.m. inside the Warren County Administrative Building at 103 Locust Street.

The evening will open with routine business, including roll call, acceptance of the agenda and approval of minutes from the board’s December 1, 2025 meeting. From there, the board will move into one of the most important parts of the night: a public hearing and public comment period. Residents from any of the four counties are welcome to speak, ask questions or raise concerns about local waste‑management challenges.

A major portion of the meeting will focus on the Annual Progress Reports, or APRs, from each county. Cannon, Coffee, Rutherford and Warren will each provide updates on recycling efforts, landfill capacity, waste‑reduction goals and any emerging issues that need regional coordination. These reports help the board track long‑term trends and determine where additional support or planning may be needed.

Board members will also hear updates from the State Solid Waste Advisory Task Force, which has been reviewing statewide disposal trends, recycling programs and potential policy changes. A legal update and a “Recycle Right” program update are also on the agenda, giving counties a chance to align messaging and address contamination problems that continue to affect recycling streams.

The meeting will wrap up with old business, discussion of the next meeting date and adjournment. For residents in the four‑county region, Wednesday’s session offers a chance to stay informed and weigh in on how Middle Tennessee manages its growing waste‑disposal needs.
