MURFREESBORO, TN (WGNS) - A small storage shed fire on Veterans Parkway could have turned into something much larger Saturday afternoon, but a fast response from Murfreesboro Fire Rescue kept it in check. Crews were dispatched after reports of a shed burning near a detached garage, and firefighters arrived to find flames beginning to spread toward the larger structure.
Shed fires may sound minor, but they can grow quickly. These small buildings often contain gasoline cans, lawn equipment, paint, and other combustibles that burn hot and fast. Once flames reach the eaves of a nearby home or garage, the fire can move into attic spaces and spread before anyone realizes what’s happening. That’s why early detection and quick reporting make such a difference.
Firefighters immediately began fire attack while simultaneously checking the detached garage to make sure the fire hadn’t already extended inside. Crews were able to stop the spread and fully contain the blaze. No injuries were reported.
Traffic on Veterans Parkway was briefly affected, but the roadway remained open as Murfreesboro Police assisted with traffic control.
The Fire Marshal’s Office is conducting a routine investigation, which is standard for structure‑related fires.
Units on scene included Ladder 2 and Ladder 1 (aerial ladder trucks used for elevated operations and ventilation), Engine 10, Engine 9, and Engine 3 (fire engines that carry water, hose lines, and firefighting crews), Rescue 11 and Rescue 4 (multi‑purpose rescue units that assist with tools, equipment, and support operations), Battalion Chiefs 1 and 2 (incident command supervisors), Support 1 and Support 2 (logistics and rehab units), and Car 135 (a command or staff officer vehicle)
