Attorney Brett Windrow Announces Run for Tennessee House District 13

LA VERGNE, Tenn. — Attorney Brett Windrow has officially announced his candidacy for State House District 13 in the Tennessee General Assembly, citing economic concerns, infrastructure challenges, and education funding as key issues facing the district.

Windrow, a seventh-generation Tennessee native and trial attorney recognized among “40 Under 40,” launched his campaign Monday with a statement sharply critical of current legislative leadership and policy decisions impacting Rutherford County.

“In the last year, District 13 has seen two major employers shut down, and is staring down more closures as tariffs ripple through our supply chains,” Windrow said. “I-24 has become a nightmare and our local roads are gridlocked and strewn with potholes. Our public schools are over capacity, and now they face vouchers siphoning away funds.”

District 13 includes communities such as La Vergne, Eagleville, Rockvale, and Blackman—areas that have experienced rapid growth alongside rising housing costs and increased traffic congestion.

Windrow attributed many of the district’s challenges to policy decisions made at the state level, arguing that they were preventable and have contributed to affordability issues and strained public resources.

“None of this happened by accident. It was all preventable,” he said. “These are the direct results of the General Assembly’s policy choices.”

He also criticized the current representative for what he described as a lack of responsiveness to constituents, stating that District 13 “deserves a representative who will take the job seriously and show up every day.”

Windrow emphasized his professional and legislative experience as qualifications for the role, noting his prior work within the General Assembly and his legal career advocating for individuals in the courtroom.

“I know how it works, who the players are, and how to turn our priorities into results for this district,” Windrow said. “Government’s most basic job is to make people’s lives better. For too long in Tennessee, it has failed to do so. I’m running to change that.”

His campaign is expected to focus on infrastructure improvements, public education funding, and economic stability as central themes heading into the election cycle.
