MURFREESBORO, TN (WGNS) - Read To Succeed is gearing up for the 22nd Annual Read To Bee 6th Grade Spelling Bee Championship. It will be next week on Friday, April 10, 2026, at The Washington Theatre inside Patterson Park Community Center. This event that feels like spring in Murfreesboro: bright, hopeful, and full of young talent ready to shine. The Spelling Bee is sponsored once again by Redstone Federal Credit Union, and brings together 16 sixth‑graders from Murfreesboro City and Rutherford County schools. These students have already battled through their school‑level competitions, and now they’ll take the stage for the countywide title.
Read To Succeed Executive Director Jolene Radnoti says the event is about far more than spelling. “Events like the Read To Bee 6th Grade Spelling Bee remind us that literacy is more than a skill; it’s a foundation for confidence, opportunity, and lifelong success. We are proud to celebrate these students and their hard work.”
And there’s plenty to celebrate. The top three spellers will take home cash prizes — $150 for first place, $100 for second, and $75 for third — all provided by Redstone Federal Credit Union. But the real reward is the moment, the lights, the nerves, the applause, and the pride that comes from mastering a word most adults wouldn’t dare attempt.
For families, teachers, and anyone who loves cheering on local kids, the 22nd Annual 6th Grade Spelling Bee offers a front‑row seat to determination in action. If you can’t make it in person, Murfreesboro City TV has you covered. The event will stream live and continue airing in the weeks that follow. It will also be available on the City of Murfreesboro Facebook page, Read To Succeed’s Facebook page, and the Murfreesboro CityTV YouTube channel.
