SMYRNA, Tenn. — The Smyrna Police Department is alerting residents to a series of suspicious encounters reported near the Kroger store on Sam Ridley Parkway, with incidents occurring during daytime hours.
According to police, multiple complaints have been received involving a man approaching women who are seated inside their vehicles in the parking lot area. In each reported case, the suspect claims there is an issue with the victim’s vehicle and attempts to persuade them to open the hood for inspection.
Authorities say that, so far, no one has complied with the suspect’s request, and all individuals involved were able to leave the area safely without further incident.
Police describe the suspect as a clean-cut Black male who approaches vehicles directly. Investigators believe he may be working with another individual. The pair are reportedly associated with a dark gray, four-door Subaru Legacy with tinted windows. At this time, no description has been released for the driver of the vehicle.
Law enforcement officials are urging the public to remain cautious and to avoid engaging with unknown individuals under suspicious circumstances. Officers emphasize that residents should not exit their vehicles or open their hoods at the request of strangers, particularly in parking lot settings.
“Trust your instincts—if something feels off, leave immediately,” police advised in their public notice.
The Smyrna Police Department has increased patrols in the area as a precaution and continues to monitor the situation.
Anyone who encounters the individual matching the description or who has additional information is encouraged to contact the Smyrna Police Department at 615-459-6644.
