LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WGNS) — Anthony Griggs has been named the new head coach of the La Vergne High School boys basketball team, effective immediately. The 34-year-old coach moves to Rutherford County following a three-year tenure at Springfield High School.

Griggs takes over a La Vergne program that underwent a tough season, finishing with a 1-26 record. This followed three straight sectional appearances and one state tournament. 

Griggs will start his coaching duties within the next few weeks while remaining at Springfield for the remainder of the school year.

Griggs replaces Mychal Greenwood and this marks the third head coach for the La Vergne boys basketball program in three years.
