The man we told you about who allegedly attempted to wire nearly $190,000 to Houston, Texas from a Bank of America branch in Murfreesboro has been arrested. The man, who identified himself to bank tellers as William Parkinson from Albuquerque Reprographics, was charged with identity theft and criminal simulation.
Reports indicate police were called after he entered the Middle Tennessee Boulevard bank branch and supposedly tried to make the transfer that was a no-go on Wednesday. In addition to the police being called, the U-S Secret Service responded to assist in the investigation. During questioning police uncovered the subject’s real name, which was not William Parkinson. His name was Charles Carter.
The 48-year old man is from Cleveland, Georgia. The arrest report shows that he is currently unemployed and does not work for the reprographics company he claimed to be a part of while at the bank. When Carter allegedly tried to make the fund transfer, he showed an I-D to a bank employee that indicated he was from California.
In case you are trying to keep the story straight, allow us to recap. Carter told bank officials he was with a company in Texas which is where he was allegedly trying to wire the 180-grand to. He then showed the teller an I-D from California. Police later found out that Carter is from Georgia. The California driver’s license number belonged to someone else and police say the license was a fake.
