MURFREESBORO, TN (WGNS) - A Thursday‑morning crash on Manchester Pike sent a scare through families at Buchanan Elementary, but officials say every child and adult on the school bus walked away without a single injury. The bus, carrying a group of first graders headed out on a field trip, was struck by a pickup truck near Fieldstone Drive.

Murfreesboro Police and the Tennessee Highway Patrol both emphasized that none of the students, no faculty members, and not even the bus driver were hurt. Parents were notified quickly, and another bus arrived to bring the children back to school. The field trip was canceled so everyone could regroup after the unexpected detour.

The driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital, and troopers are still sorting out what led to the collision. The damaged vehicles have been cleared from the roadway, but the focus for school officials today is simple: the kids are safe, the staff is safe, and the bus driver is safe — and that’s what mattered most in a morning that could have ended very differently.
