MURFREESBORO, TN (WGNS) - An immersive slice of early America is rolling into downtown Murfreesboro next week, and Linebaugh Public Library is about to feel a little more like 1776. Beginning Wednesday, June 3, the library at 105 W. Vine St. will host the American Revolution Experience, a national traveling exhibit created by the American Battlefield Trust and the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. It’s a hands‑on, story‑driven look at the people who shaped the nation’s earliest days—ordinary folks whose choices carried extraordinary weight.

The exhibit blends colorful display panels, interactive digital kiosks, illustrations, artifacts, and first‑person accounts. It’s designed to pull visitors straight into the world of Patriots, Loyalists, women, Black and Native participants, and even international allies. Thanks to matching support from the National Park Service’s Battlefield Interpretation Grants, the project has been touring the country to enthusiastic crowds.

Linebaugh will host the exhibit June 3–10 during regular library hours, and the community is invited to an Opening Night Celebration at 5 p.m. on June 3, 2026. Dr. Amy Sayward of Middle Tennessee State University—well known for her work with the American Democracy Project and MTSU’s Semiquincentennial Committee—will present “Swamps, Swords, and Sovereignty: The Campaign for Independence,” exploring the South’s pivotal role in the Revolution. A reception follows, complete with Colonial‑style cookies from The Sweet Addiction.

Families will find plenty to enjoy throughout the week. Linebaugh and the local DAR chapters are hosting a patriotic scavenger hunt, colonial games on the patio, and a lively round of Revolutionary Bingo. Several events also tie into the library’s “Unearth a Story” Summer Reading Program for the America 250 celebration, including an all‑ages storytime on June 2, a special presentation of The Patriot’s Chest on June 3, a Skype‑a‑Scientist session with an archaeologist on June 5, and a tween/teen interactive screening of National Treasure that afternoon.

The American Revolution Experience first launched online in 2022, earning national recognition from the Anthem Awards and the Webbys. Its traveling version features twelve panels and three kiosks that connect visitors to deeper biographies, maps, and historic sites. Custom illustrations by artist Dale Watson and materials from DAR’s collection help bring the era to life.
