RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN (WGNS UPDATE) - Detectives with the Murfreesboro Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit have confirmed the identities of both the victim and the suspect in a death investigation that appears to be connected to domestic violence. The victim in this caase was found at a home on Tinnell Court in Murfreesboro on Thursday.

Police identified the victim as 26-year-old Hannah Jackson, a Murfreesboro resident. The suspect has been identified as 27-year-old David Ivy. Reports confirm he has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, unlawful possession of a weapon during the commission of a dangerous felony, and especially aggravated burglary.

After Ivy was taken into custody, he was further interrogated by police. Later that afternoon, at approximately 4:30 p.m., he was booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center in Murfreesboro. As of mid-morning Tuesday, he remained in custody.

In an earlier release, Murfreesboro Police stated that Violent Crimes Unit detectives were actively investigating the death after deputies with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) arrested a man in connection to the case. That individual was later identified as Ivy, who was located at a residence on Steelson Court.

According to sheriff’s officials, deputies initially responded after a man contacted family members and claimed he had been involved in a domestic violence incident. As that call unfolded, dispatchers sent deputies to the Steelson Court address around 10:15 Thursday morning.

During the call, Ivy reportedly made statements indicating he intended to harm himself. Deputies arrived at the residence and were able to take him into custody without further incident.

As deputies continued investigating Ivy’s statements, they learned his girlfriend was located at a residence on Tinnell Court, approximately nine miles away. Because one location was in Rutherford County and the other within Murfreesboro city limits, deputies and Murfreesboro Police coordinated their response.

Officers with the Murfreesboro Police Department responded to the Tinnell Court residence, where Ivy said the domestic incident had occurred. Shortly after arriving, officers discovered Jackson deceased inside the home.

The Murfreesboro Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit has since taken over the investigation and continues to work the case in coordination with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.

Public Safety Director Larry Flowers wrote in a release, “This was a deeply tragic situation between two individuals who had a personal relationship.” Flowers continued, “These cases are always difficult, and our investigators are committed to finding the facts while being mindful of the families grieving during this difficult time.”

Ivy is being held on a $700,000 bond. Scroll down for more photos of incident site.
