MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — A nationally traveling exhibit aimed at highlighting America’s founding history and faith-based roots is set to make a stop in Rutherford County later this month. World Outreach Church will host “Defending the Truth,” presented by the American Journey Experience and WallBuilders, from April 24–26.
The event will feature a rare collection of historical artifacts, documents, and immersive exhibits designed to bring American history to life. Organizers say many of the items on display are typically housed in private collections and are seldom available for public viewing. Among the featured artifacts are personal belongings connected to George Washington, an early draft of the Declaration of Independence, and items tied to pivotal moments in U.S. history, including early colonial settlements like Jamestown and Plymouth.
In addition to the main exhibit, displays will be available throughout the month of April across the church campus, focusing on the role of faith in shaping the nation’s founding principles. The American Journey Experience traces the development of the United States from the era of Christopher Columbus through the Space Race, emphasizing the influence of biblical values and leadership throughout history.
A highlight of the weekend will include guest appearances by historian David Barton, founder of WallBuilders, who will speak during church services on Saturday, April 25, at 6 p.m., and Sunday, April 26, at 9:30 a.m. His presentations are expected to focus on the historical and biblical context of America’s founding.
Senior Pastor Allen Jackson said the event offers an opportunity for the community to better understand the nation’s history and its connection to faith. He emphasized the importance of preserving historical knowledge and invited residents across Middle Tennessee to attend.
The “Defending the Truth” exhibit will take place at World Outreach Church, located at 1921 New Salem Highway in Murfreesboro. Tickets for guided tours and artifact viewing are $5 for adults, while admission is free for guests 17 and under. Church services featuring Barton are open to the public and do not require a ticket.
