LA VERGNE, Tenn. (WGNS) - La Vergne Fire Rescue responded to a residential structure fire Monday morning on East Nir Shreibman Boulevard. Dispatchers sent crews to the home at 7:26 a.m. Firefighters from Engine 43 reported seeing heavy smoke while they were still on the way to the scene.

When crews arrived, they found the roof destroyed and flames spreading from the attic. A neighborhood parent returning home spotted the smoke and called 911. That parent made sure everyone inside got out of the house safely. Firefighters moved quickly to stop the fire from spreading to nearby homes.

Approximately 20 personnel and four apparatus responded to the incident. Battalion Chief Marcus Harney commanded the scene. Several agencies provided support, including the La Vergne Police Department, Rutherford County EMS, and the Rutherford County Fire Marshal’s Office. Investigators are now looking into the cause of the fire. Early reports suggest the fire started near a rear deck where residents stored combustible materials.
