MURFREESBORO-TN - A local non-profit organization is preparing to host a community event this Thursday evening to support women transitioning out of difficult life circumstances. Sweet Addiction, a Murfreesboro-based bakery with a mission, will hold the "Boro Baking Bash" on April 23, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Fountains at Gateway. Click PLAY above this article to learn more about the event that is this Thursday, from 6PM to 8PM.

The event, described as a "bake-off battle," aims to raise funds and awareness for women who have survived domestic violence, incarceration, and human trafficking. Sweet Addiction provides these women with employment opportunities and professional training to help them reintegrate into the community and secure stable housing.

Grammy-winning country music artist Linda Davis (Pictured, scroll down for more), along with her husband Lang Scott and daughter Riley Jean, will provide the musical entertainment for the evening. Davis, a long-time Nashville resident known for her chart-topping duet "Does He Love You" with Reba McEntire, expressed her personal connection to the cause during a recent interview on WGNS Radio.

"It’s a faith-based organization, which is a big part of my life and my family's," Davis said. "These women are starting afresh. They need help, support, and encouragement, and that’s what Robin and her team at Sweet Addiction do."

The "Boro Baking Bash" will feature a variety of sweet treats and professional arrangements. Tickets and further information regarding the event and the organization's mission can be found on their official website.

While the primary focus of the evening is community support and professional bakeries, experts often note the psychological benefits of routine and "good manners" in domestic settings. According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), household pets are highly sensitive to changes in environment and routine. In some instances, animals may exhibit signs of jealousy or behavioral shifts-such as pushing for attention or snapping-when a new family member, like a newborn, is introduced and disrupts the established social order. Behavioral researchers at the University of California, San Diego, have documented that dogs can display these jealous behaviors when their owners provide affection to others, emphasizing the importance of maintaining consistent boundaries and training to ensure safety during major life transitions.
