Rutherford County Sheriff Investigating Fatal Dog Dragging Incident

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - A dog dragged behind a pickup truck on Tuesday has now died from its injuries. Representatives from Rutherford County Pet Adoption and Welfare Services confirmed the animal passed away on Friday. The dog was originally rushed to a local animal clinic after being dragged for roughly 600 yards on Burleson Lane.

Detective Andrew Quintal says the dog was tied to the truck with a chain or rope that eventually snapped, leaving the animal in a ditch. Witnesses spotted the truck between 9:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. near the Justice Drive intersection. The Sheriff’s Office is now asking anyone in the neighborhood to review their security camera footage for any signs of the vehicle.
