MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Murfreesboro City Schools will host its annual Kickoff to Kindergarten event on Tuesday, May 12, welcoming families of incoming kindergarten students with a fun and supportive introduction to school while also offering on-site registration assistance for the 2026–2027 school year.
Kickoff to Kindergarten will take place at all MCS schools, excluding Discovery School, as well as the MCS Central Office, located at 2552 S. Church Street. Individual school event times vary by location and can be found on each school’s website.
“For families, registering early opens the door to important kindergarten updates and ensures they’re connected from the very beginning,” said Dr. Trey Duke. “It also allows students to participate in our KinderCamp experience, helping them build confidence and feel comfortable before the first day of school.”
Designed to support families every step of the way, the event will provide assistance with registration, required documentation, and school readiness questions. Registration support will be available at all schools for families needing help completing the process.
For families requiring language assistance, translators will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the MCS Central Office.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to bring the following documents, if applicable:
- Child’s official birth certificate or proof of age
- Immunization records
- Recent physical exam documentation or appointment card
- Proof of residency, such as a utility bill or signed lease/mortgage document
- Parent or guardian photo ID
- Proof of custody, if applicable
