MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - Local agriculture is booming in Rutherford County as the Lane Agri-Park prepares for its biggest season yet. Market Manager Hannah Bleam says the Rutherford County Farmers Market has more farmers signed up this year than staff anticipated. To make sure every farmer has a spot, the market is expanding its footprint into the small side of the community center during the upcoming peak season.
Because the farmers need more physical space to sell their goods, the market is adjusting its evening entertainment schedule. Movie nights are off the calendar because they require too much floor space. Instead, the market will host craft nights, themed picnics, and produce-centered activities. These changes allow more room for fresh food while still offering free family fun in the evenings.
The market also recently transitioned to a year-round schedule. Along with the produce, families can look forward to the Agventurers toddler classes, a horse petting zoo, and visits from the Rutherford County Library Bookmobile. The market is located at 315 John R. Rice Boulevard in Murfreesboro. Interested shoppers can pick up a physical event calendar at the market or sign up for email updates online.
