MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - The Boys and Girls Clubs of Rutherford County just announced a heavy hitter for their upcoming annual fundraiser.

Olympic legend Michael Phelps will serve as the featured guest for the annual Stake and Burger dinner on June 9th. The event takes place at the Middle Tennessee State University Student Union Building.

As the most decorated Olympian of all time, Phelps brings international star power to the local stage to help raise money for area youth. Organizers say the evening provides a vital boost to club programs that serve children across Murfreesboro, Smyrna, and La Vergne.

Local staples SRM Concrete and Nissan are back as the presenting sponsors for the event.
