MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - Local commuters will soon see a green light at a busy intersection on the east side of town. City traffic engineers confirm the new signal at John Bragg Highway and Lyons Farm Parkway is scheduled to go fully operational on Monday, May 18th, at approximately 10 a.m.
The signal is currently in a "flashing mode" to alert drivers to the change. This week-long warning period started Monday at noon. The developer of the Farmhouse Downs Subdivision, Lennar Homes, covered the costs for the equipment and installation as part of their building requirements.
According to city officials, the intersection met specific "signal warrants" based on federal and state safety standards. These studies ensure that a light is actually necessary before the city installs one. For questions about the new signal, residents can contact the Murfreesboro Traffic Engineering Department at 615-893-6441.
