EAGLEVILLE, Tenn. (WGNS) - Eagleville athletes will soon play on brand-new turf surfaces. The school officially broke ground on new synthetic turf fields for its baseball, football, and softball programs.

A major investment from local company SRM Concrete funded the entire project. Construction crews are already on-site, and school officials expect workers to complete the upgrades by early August.

Eagleville holds a unique spot in the local sports landscape. It operates as the only K-12 school in the area, and it is the only 1A school in Rutherford County. This project helps the small school keep pace with its larger neighbors. Almost all of the county's large 4A schools now feature turf football fields, and several have upgraded their baseball and softball lines as well. Only La Vergne High School remains on natural grass for football among the 4A programs.
