From Sephora to Target: Nashville Woman Accused in $15K Retail Theft Cases + Murfreesboro Shoplifting Incidents

MIDDLE TENNESSEE (WGNS News) - Metro Nashville Police say a woman they describe as a “prolific shoplifter” is once again behind bars after being arrested on 28 outstanding warrants tied to alleged thefts and organized retail crime cases stretching across Middle Tennessee and beyond.

According to investigators, 31-year-old Hockett was identified by Organized Retail Crime detectives in Nashville as a suspect accused of stealing more than $15,000 worth of merchandise from multiple retailers since July of last year. Authorities say the alleged shopping spree involved stores that included Ulta, Sephora, Target, Bath & Body Works and Hibbett Sports. Apparently, loyalty points were not part of the rewards program being used.

Police say Hockett was booked into the Davidson County Correctional Development Center on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, where she remains jailed on a $232,000 bond.

While the latest arrest unfolded in Nashville, Rutherford County authorities are no strangers to the woman’s name. Court records show Hockett was previously convicted in connection to a 2021 Rutherford County theft case involving more than $2,500 in merchandise. Investigators alleged the stolen items somehow made it past the cash register without participating in the traditional checkout process.

About one year later, another alleged theft case in Murfreesboro reportedly resulted in another arrest. Due to what could only be described as a lengthy court timeline, it took roughly two years before that case reached a courtroom. Ultimately, both Rutherford County cases led to convictions during an April 19, 2024 hearing.

Following those convictions, Hockett received a four-year sentence. However, records show she was only required to serve 35% of that term behind bars, which totaled approximately 511 days. Much of that sentence was suspended after she had already spent more than 100 days in jail. She was also ordered to pay restitution in those cases.

As it turns out, Rutherford County was apparently not removed from the travel itinerary.

Authorities say a violation of probation charge was filed against Hockett in 2025 after she was again charged in another Murfreesboro-area theft case. Records further show she had already been booked into jail on an earlier probation violation just three months and nine days before yet another alleged Rutherford County shoplifting incident.

That latest Rutherford County case reportedly unfolded about 11 weeks and three days before Christmas of 2025. A criminal warrant tied to that incident was issued on October 16, 2025, and the case is still pending in court. Because the matter has not yet been adjudicated, the allegations remain accusations at this stage of the judicial process.

Metro investigators say the most recent Nashville investigation uncovered more than alleged shoplifting activity. Detectives now accuse Hockett of stealing the identity of a woman from North Carolina and using that identity to rent a property in the Nashville area. Authorities allege the same identification information was later used to establish electric utility service through Nashville Electric Service.

In addition to the retail theft-related charges, police say Hockett now faces six counts of forgery, three counts of identity theft, theft of property and theft of services.

And for anyone attempting to keep track of future court appearances, organizers may need a larger calendar. Authorities say Hockett is also wanted on outstanding charges in several Tennessee jurisdictions, along with pending matters in Calhoun, Georgia.

As of Thursday morning, the woman remained incarcerated in Davidson County awaiting her next court appearance.
