MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - A Murfreesboro man faces a lengthy prison sentence after a Rutherford County jury convicted him of multiple violent sexual offenses.

Jurors found 44-year-old Johnny Franklin King of Grassland Drive guilty of aggravated rape and two counts of aggravated sexual battery. The conviction follows a week-long trial where both the victim and investigators took the stand.

Rutherford County Sheriff’s Detective Sgt. Amanda McPherson launched the initial investigation back in 2024. McPherson stated the victim suffered multiple physical injuries during the assault. According to the detective, the victim initially hesitated to move forward with the case out of fear of King and his history of violence.

Authorities now worry there could be additional victims in Middle Tennessee. Detective Sgt. McPherson noted that King actively used various dating apps and social media platforms to meet people.

King is currently held without bond at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. He will remain in local custody until his formal sentencing hearing on September 8th.
