WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Tenn. - A Pleasant View woman has been taken into custody following a joint investigation involving the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, and Tennessee Homeland Security into alleged online threats targeting a Tennessee politician and a member of the politician’s family.

According to the TBI, the inquiry began on May 12 after 21st Judicial District Attorney General Stacey Edmonson requested state assistance regarding threatening and harassing communications reportedly transmitted through social media platforms.

Authorities allege that 23-year-old Elizabeth Leopard was responsible for sending the messages. Following the investigation, evidence was presented to a Williamson County Grand Jury.

Agents with the TBI released to the media, “On May 12th, at the request of 21st Judicial District Attorney General Stacey Edmonson, TBI agents joined the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and Tennessee Homeland Security in investigating threats and harassing messages sent on social media to a Tennessee politician and one of their relatives.”

On Wednesday, the grand jury returned an indictment charging Leopard with one count of Aggravated Stalking involving a victim age 65 or older, one count of Stalking, and six counts of Harassment.

TBI agents arrested Leopard Thursday at her residence in Pleasant View. She was subsequently transported to the Williamson County Jail, where she was booked under a $100,000 bond.
