RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WGNS News) - Reality television personality Kyle Chrisley is once again making headlines in Middle Tennessee, but this time the spotlight is shining inside a Rutherford County courtroom instead of on a television soundstage. A Grand Jury has now indicted the 35-year-old following an altercation with deputies that reportedly erupted just days before Christmas last year.
Court records show Chrisley faces nine total charges tied to the December incident, including three counts of assault on a law enforcement officer, three counts of retaliation for a past action, one count of disorderly conduct, one count of resisting “stop, arrest, search” without a weapon, and one count of public intoxication.
The California Drive resident, recognized from the reality television series “Chrisley Knows Best,” was originally scheduled to appear for arraignment earlier this month. That hearing was postponed after a continuance was granted, pushing his next appearance to July 29, 2026.
According to information released by the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to Burleson Lane after Chrisley’s wife reportedly contacted authorities to say her husband was “being belligerent” while walking down the center of the roadway as she followed behind him in a vehicle.
Sgt. Brady Greene stated that responding personnel attempted to calm the situation before the encounter allegedly escalated. Authorities claim Chrisley became hostile shortly after deputies arrived.
“When attempting to speak with Mr. Chrisley, he became immediately aggressive, charged at deputies and began to throw punches and assault deputies,” Greene reported. “After a physical altercation and deployment of OC Spray, Mr. Chrisley was taken into custody.”
Documentation released following the confrontation indicates three deputies sustained injuries during the struggle.
After the disturbance ended, Chrisley was transported to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center where he was booked on the charges connected to the case. Jail records later showed he secured release after posting an $88,500 bond.
Six allegations filed against Chrisley are classified as Class E felonies, while the remaining accusations are misdemeanor-level offenses. Proceedings are currently assigned to the courtroom of Judge Barry Tidwell in Rutherford County Circuit Court.
For many viewers, the indictment marks another unexpected chapter involving a family long associated with reality television fame, Southern humor, and highly publicized legal troubles. Now, attention shifts from television reruns to upcoming court proceedings in Murfreesboro.
