Murfreesboro Police Seek Man Accused of Taking More Than $1,000 from Wallet at Publix,

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Detectives with the Murfreesboro Police Department are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man wanted in connection with a theft at the Publix grocery store on Veterans Parkway.

According to investigators, the theft occurred on May 19, 2026. Police said the man was captured on a  security camera walking past the front door of the store, and WGNS has posted an enhanced version of the image on WGNSradio.com to help listeners and readers get a clearer look at the individual.

Detectives said the man allegedly found a wallet that had been left in a shopping cart. After locating the wallet, police said he removed more than $1,000 in cash from inside it.

Investigators said the wallet was later discarded and found in the parking lot behind the store.

Authorities are now working to identify the man seen in the surveillance image. Anyone who recognizes the individual, or who has information about his identity or whereabouts, is asked to contact Detective Rice with the Murfreesboro Police Department at 629-201-5603.

As with all criminal cases, the individual is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
