CANNON COUNTY, Tenn. (WGNS News) - A police pursuit that took place on Wednesday in both Smyrna and La Vergne, wrapped up with an arrest in nearby Cannon County. The man accused of driving a stolen vehicle involved in the earlier police pursuits in North Rutherford County was taken into custody Wednesday after a multi-agency chase that ended near the Rutherford County line, according to the Cannon County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said dispatch notified the Cannon County Sheriff’s Office and the Woodbury Police Department on June 17, 2026, that a stolen vehicle reported by Metro Nashville Police was being driven by Tyler Beasley. Deputies were also told the vehicle had been involved in pursuits in Smyrna and La Vergne, and that Beasley had active felony warrants.

Murfreesboro Police later advised that the vehicle was last seen traveling toward Cannon County on John Bragg Highway.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Sgt. Drake spotted the vehicle near Parsley’s Market and attempted to conduct a traffic stop near the SRM quarry. The driver did not stop and continued at a high rate of speed toward Woodbury. Scroll down for photos of what occurred at the end of the pursuit.

As the pursuit entered the city, officers with the Woodbury Police Department joined the chase near police headquarters, along with additional Sheriff’s Office units. Authorities said the suspect turned from Main Street onto North McCrary Street, then onto Water Street, where he nearly struck Woodbury Police Investigator Froome’s vehicle.

The chase continued onto Doolittle Road and Pleasant Ridge Road. When the suspect reached the Frank Walkup Memorial Bridge, investigators said he struck the side of Investigator Reed’s Sheriff’s Office vehicle, causing extensive damage to the passenger side.

Deputies said the vehicle continued onto Locke Creek Road, where Woodbury Police Sgt. Curtis successfully deployed spike strips at the intersection of Old Murfreesboro Road. Three of the vehicle’s four tires began deflating, but the suspect continued driving toward Rutherford County.

The pursuit ended just before New Hope Church of Christ, when the suspect lost control because of the damaged tires and went into a yard, according to the Sheriff’s Office. As he attempted to return to the road, authorities said he hit the front of Chief Deputy Brown’s vehicle, causing minor damage to the bumper and fender.

Investigator Reed then moved in front of the stolen vehicle in an attempt to slow it down. Deputies said the suspect struck the rear of Reed’s vehicle and came to a stop. The Sheriff’s Office said the driver then put the truck in reverse in an apparent attempt to get away, making contact with Chief Deputy Brown’s vehicle a second time.

Deputies ordered the suspect out of the truck while it was still in reverse and the tires were spinning. He was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody without further incident.

The Sheriff’s Office said no vehicles were damaged other than patrol vehicles struck by the suspect. The only known private property damage was a destroyed mailbox on Doolittle Road. Scroll down for photos.

Anyone who lives along the pursuit route and discovered damage that was not documented at the scene is asked to call the Cannon County Sheriff’s Office at 615-563-4322 so the information can be added to the report.

The Sheriff’s Office thanked the Woodbury Police Department for its assistance.
