MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Murfreesboro Police have arrested a second suspect in connection with a fatal shooting outside a local pool hall that claimed the life of an innocent bystander.

The shooting happened early Saturday morning, June 13, outside MJ’s Sports Bar & Grill on Northwest Broad Street. The victim, 27-year-old Cierra Torres, was later pronounced dead after being hospitalized for several days.

According to the Murfreesboro Police Department, detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit, along with the department’s Forensic Services Unit and Metro Nashville Police, executed search warrants in Davidson County as part of the investigation. Those warrants led to the arrest of 39-year-old Castella Goodman.

Police said Goodman and 37-year-old Keosha Bassham, also known as Keosha Morton, are now both charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. Bassham was already in custody on unrelated charges in Davidson County. Goodman is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Investigators said the case began as an ongoing dispute that surfaced at MJ’s Sports Bar & Grill. According to the preliminary investigation, Bassham confronted a group of people inside the business. Police said the group, including Torres, left the pool hall, but the confrontation continued outside.

As Torres and others attempted to leave in a pickup truck, police said Goodman allegedly fired shots at the vehicle. Torres, who was sitting in the passenger seat, was struck by gunfire.

Officers later found Torres suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot of a nearby muffler shop. She was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition and was pronounced dead four days later.

In an earlier report from WGNS, police said the shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m. on June 13. At that time, detectives with the Murfreesboro Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit had arrested one suspect, who initially faced three counts of attempted first-degree murder, while the victim remained hospitalized.

Bassham remains in the Davidson County Jail and is awaiting extradition to Rutherford County. Goodman is being held at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. In Murfreesboro, the investigation remains active and ongoing at this time.
