SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. - Shelbyville Police are investigating after an adult woman was found deceased in a city park parking lot earlier this week. According to the Shelbyville Police Department, officers responded to H.V. Griffin Park around 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, after receiving a call about an unresponsive person in the parking lot.

When officers arrived, they located a deceased adult female. Detectives were then called to the scene to begin investigating the circumstances surrounding her death. Authorities said the incident appears to be isolated, and based on information gathered so far, there is no known threat to public safety.

Police have not released the woman’s name or details about how she died. Investigators said those findings remain pending as standard procedures continue and the Medical Examiner’s Office reviews the case.
