RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WGNS)- Rutherford County residents will have several chances to celebrate Independence Day with fireworks, music, food vendors and patriotic programs across the county.
In Smyrna, the town’s Independence Day Celebration will be held Thursday, July 2, beginning at 5 p.m. at Lee Victory Recreation Park, 110 Sam Ridley Parkway East. Fireworks are scheduled for after dark, with Friday, July 3, listed as the rain date. The event will include food and craft vendors, family activities and live entertainment.
In Murfreesboro, the annual Celebration Under the Stars is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, at The Fountains at Gateway. Festivities begin at 4:30 p.m. with a DJ, food trucks and splash pad activities. Live entertainment by John Foster begins at 7:30 p.m., followed by fireworks at 9 p.m. The city says pets, alcohol, grills and personal fireworks are not allowed at the celebration site.
In La Vergne, the city’s Independence Day Celebration will take place Saturday, July 4, at Veterans Memorial Park, 115 Floyd Mayfield Drive. The free event includes food vendors, live music and fireworks. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., with music beginning at 6 p.m.
Families in the Buchanan community can also celebrate earlier in the week. New Vision’s Buchanan Campus will host a Summer Celebration on Wednesday, July 1, for families with children in fifth through 12th grades. The evening includes a cookout at 6:30 p.m., service at 7:15 p.m. and fireworks afterward. Families are asked to bring a lawn chair or blanket.
As an added event after the holiday weekend, Eagleville will host its First Friday Porch Music & Food Trucks event on Saturday, July 11, as part of Rutherford County’s America250 festivities. The small-town gathering will include music, food trucks and community activities.
