UPDATED: Murfreesboro Kicks Off America 250 Celebration with Mural Dedication and Friday Night Live

Main Street Murfreesboro - Main Street Murfreesboro will celebrate Independence Day weekend and launch the city’s America 250 celebration with a special Friday Night Live event on Friday, July 3, on the Historic Downtown Square. The evening begins at 6 p.m. with the dedication of the America 250 Mural Mosaic, “The Patriot’s Flag,” on the Shacklett’s Photography building at 105 S. Church Street. The mural features painted tiles created by 650 local residents and honors America’s upcoming 250th anniversary. Mayor Shane McFarland and community leaders will take part in the dedication, followed by patriotic music from The Center for the Arts and a free 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. concert by the R&B party band Entice. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early for downtown dining, shopping, the Boro Art Crawl and the mural dedication. FULL DETAILS: Murfreesboro, TN - Main Street Murfreesboro invites the community to celebrate Independence Day weekend and the kickoff of Murfreesboro's America 250 celebration during a special Friday Night Live on Friday, July 3, featuring the dedication of the America 250 Mural Mosaic, followed by a free concert on the east side of the Historic Downtown Square.
 
The evening begins at 6:00 p.m. with the dedication of the America 250 Mural Mosaic, "The Patriot's Flag," located on the Shacklett's Photography building, 105 S. Church Street. The mural is a community-created public art installation celebrating America's upcoming 250th anniversary and reflects the contributions of 650 local residents whose painted tiles helped create the project.
 
Mayor Shane McFarland will join community leaders to officially dedicate the mural to the Murfreesboro community. Following the dedication, performers from The Center for the Arts will present a selection of patriotic songs before the evening concert, featuring the band Entice.
 
At 6:30 p.m., Friday Night Live will begin with a performance by Entice, one of Middle Tennessee's favorite R&B party bands, who will entertain the crowd with an energetic mix of dance favorites, classic hits, and contemporary music through 9:30 p.m.
 
"This year's July Friday Night Live is more than just a concert—it's the beginning of our community's America 250 celebration," said Sarah Callender, executive director of Main Street Murfreesboro. “The mural dedication and free concert provide a wonderful opportunity for residents and visitors to come together, celebrate our nation's history, and enjoy everything downtown Murfreesboro has to offer."
 
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy dinner at one of downtown's locally owned restaurants, shop with local merchants, and participate in the mural dedication before the concert begins.

Event attendees should bring lawn chairs for seating. Plenty of free parking is available in the City's two downtown parking garages and in public parking lots surrounding the square.
 
To accommodate the event, the Murfreesboro Public Square will close to vehicle traffic beginning at 5:00 p.m. Drivers are asked to remove all vehicles from the square before the closure begins. Streets will not be reopened until 9:30 pm.
 
Friday Night Live is free and open to the public. Attendees will also be able to shop with local artists participating in the Boro Art Crawl on Friday night around the public square.
